I haven’t always been perfect when it comes to tithing.

There have been seasons where I gave consistently and seasons where I didn’t give at all. Not because I didn’t want to, but because life got busy, business felt uncertain, or I wasn’t paying close attention. But over the past year, God has gently reminded me that everything I have is already His.

And when I hold it too tightly, I miss out on watching Him move.

A few months ago, I was in one of those “penny-pinching” seasons. (Let’s be truthful here, I’m a paycheck-to-paycheck girl, so I rely on business being constant.) Inquiries were down. Leads were quiet – and I mean silent, as in crickets. During the unbearable silence, I begin questioning everything. I kept asking God, “Why does it feel like nothing’s moving?”

Then it hit me: I hadn’t tithed.

I was so focused on navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship that I neglected the most crucial rhythm of provision—giving back to what was already God’s. I immediately stopped and prayed, apologizing for my lack of giving. I thanked Him for His patience, and I tithed what belonged to Him.

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”Proverbs 3:9-10

That verse came alive for me literally that same day:
  • I booked two new leads on the spot.
  • And a mom of a couple I had served three years ago texted me out of the blue to say: “I just realized I never tipped you like I meant to… Can I send you something?” She sent me a tip on Venmo right then and there.

That’s not a coincidence. That’s God.

Only God could orchestrate that kind of supply. Only God could align those moments to remind me that He sees and He provides—faithfully, abundantly, and right on time.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Tithing isn’t about checking off a spiritual box.

It’s about acknowledging that every dollar, every booking, every opportunity—it’s His first.

Because that’s the God we serve. A God of abundant grace who blesses not because He has to, but because it’s naturally who He is.

As a business owner, it’s easy to fall into the trap of hoarding every penny. To feel like you have to hustle constantly to stay afloat. But here’s the truth I’ve learned, and as it’s been said before:

You can trust God with your finances because He’s already trusted you with them.

So now, no matter what season I’m in, abundance or scarcity, tithing is a priority. Not because I have to, but because I get to. It’s a way of honoring the One who never fails to provide.

And let me tell you, He always shows up right on time.

With love and grace,

Kaitie
